Art Direction, Design, Print Production
This piece was initially suggested to be a brochure. A brochure? Just a few pages, nothing fancy. 50 years of history. It ended up being a 150+ page book that was put together by a large team of people including selected lectors and a professor-linguist who edited out every hyphenated line break that was not grammatically acceptable.
The initial text and all of the collected images from over 50 years had me worried about how I was going to use so many different styles of photos with a colour palette that would not be offensive. The strategy was to leave the colour mostly to the photos, to be chronological as much as possible (to have photos from the same eras in the same sections) and to make the text appealing through the typography itself using colour very sparingly.
After months of work (alone on the visual side, the edits and print production), the piece came to life and was published in November of 2019. The mockups below I created from scratch.
